OK, they were supposed to be persecuted, ignored, rejected, misunderstood, so that's one (or 4) thing(s) in common, but vampires also convey to me something strongly sexual that may find a greater echo with non-heterosexuals minorities than with religion-, gender-, skin color-based or other minorities.
