True Blood
I adore the intro of True Blood. It fulfils pretty much every cliché we Germans have about the American South and I love the song while I’m not into such stuff normally ^.^ I watched only two episodes so far but it seems to be pretty interesting. I wonder how many people realise that the vampires are actually a metaphor for any minority who had to fight for its rights in American history – like black people or gays.

When you love these details: Did you see “God hates fangs” in this video? :)
I haven’t seen anything but this intro so far, but even this tiny video shows the metaphor so obviously, that it’ll be pretty hard not to recognize it.

Yeah, it’s a very attaching show. Another hidden pearl in the teaser intro: Check out the position of the milk bottle at the KKK meeting…
Not sure if all minorities feel the same ties with vampires, though. OK, they were supposed to be persecuted, ignored, rejected, misunderstood, so that’s one (or 4) thing(s) in common, but vampires also convey to me something strongly sexual that may find a greater echo with non-heterosexuals minorities than with religion-, gender-, skin color-based or other minorities.
Well, that’s my 2 Groschen anyway…
Josh says:
That’s a good one Chimel, didn’t see that. Thanks ^^,

‘God Hates Fangs’ is a take off on that crazy preacher from Kansas, Fred Phelps, who goes to peoples funerals with his equally crazy family, and they all hold up signs that say “God Hates Fags”.
The funny thing about the American South, is that it seems to be crawling with gays. Many of the politicians are deeply closeted gays, such as Charlie Crist of Florida and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

Hey Josh – I love the series too…
Looking closely at the Angelina Jolie ‘vampire’ baby, isn’t that Eddie Munster from the Munsters?
