Vikings!

The Up Helly Aa festival  celebrates the influence of the Scandinavian Vikings in the Shetland Islands, marking the end of the yule season, and has employed this theme in the festival since 1870. The event culminates with up to 1,000 ‘guizers’ (men in costume) throwing flaming torches into a Viking longship. The event happens all over Shetland, but it is only the Lerwick galley which is not sent seaward. Everywhere else, the flaming galley is sent into the sea, in an echo of actual Viking sea burials. I felt a bit shitty recently but now I feel truly terrible, I caught some funny flu again so please take this as an excuse for me not being really entertaining lately, kays? Your patient will pay off eventually because I’m working on some super amazing stuff for the ones of you I’d call friends (not too many luckily, less work if you have hardly any real, beloved friends :p). It’s something different for everyone of you but I’m pretty sure that you all will like what you get. And if not you better act like you did! ;p

People drive me crazy sometimes xD I mentioned that 1. I don’t link Blogspot blogs on milkboys and 2. that I can’t reply to mails sent from Yahoo Mail because they block all mails from hundreds of gay blogs (including milkboys) at least a fantastillion times. But what do people do? They ask me to link their Blogspot blog and tell me to reply to their Yahoo Mail address! They must do that on purpose… >< I always had this feeling that both Yahoo & Blogspot are services used mostly by people who are either not very tech-savvy (that’s ok) or just totally ignorant *le sigh*

Did you ever notice that these slightly scary people who try to fit into every cliché about pedos are always the ones with a Yahoo mail address (boymentor67@yahoo.com) and Blogspot blogs (hawt-rascals.blogspot.com)? I don’t know about you but I prefer the kind of pedos who read Destroyer over the ones who read Koinos and glorify kids as some Greek angels who need someone to give them lessons about philosophical & physical pleasures… but I’m getting off topic. Sorry for the rant, I hope you will take this picture as my apology, it should be enjoyable for both kinds of pedos ;p

Bruce and Melanie Rosenbaum started ModVic (Modern Victorian) Home Restoration in June 2007 and have now moved onto steampunk Home Design. ModVic’s mission is to authentically restore historic Victorian homes (1850 – 1910) to their original beauty and richness while completely modernizing the home’s systems, functional layout and conveniences for the family of today (sound familiar?). Bruce and Melanie also love the steampunk design aesthetic of combining the best of Victorian high design and craftsmanship with modern functionality and usefulness.

Denbigh Asylum

The North Wales Lunatic Asylum was the first psychiatric institution built in Wales; construction began in 1844 and completed in 1848 in the town of Denbigh. The U-shaped Tudorbethain style hospital was built due to the spreading word of mistreatment of Welsh people in English asylums; The North Wales Hospital would be a haven for welsh speaking residents to seek treatment without prejudice or a language barrier.

Renovations and extensions were made at the hospital from 1867 until 1956, when the hospital reached its maximum capacity at 1,500 patients living inside her walls and 1,000 staff at hand. Physical treatments such as Cardiazol, malarial treatment, insulin shock treatment, and sulphur based drugs were used and developed in the 1920s and 1930s, and 1941-1942 saw the advent of electro convulsive therapy (ECT) and prefrontal leucotomy (lobotomy) treatments.

I was surprisingly social lately. And it was worth it. I got to know two new people who definitely have the potential to make my life more interesting. Both of them mailed me for somewhat random reasons and if you know me you’re surely aware of the fact that it can take up to a year (in extreme cases ;p) to get a mail back from me but these two actually seemed to be so interesting that I managed to overcome my laziness bustle and get back to them before they forgot that they even tried to talk to me.

There’s Erik, a 14 year old little Viking from Sweden who’s one of these rare creatures which are smart and cute. Ignoring the fact that a 14 year old Swede speaks way better English than you do is so much easier when the boy in question is as charming and adorable as he is :) If he wouldn’t live so far away I wouldn’t hesitate to ask him out, no matter how many people would want to crucify me for the pedoness of that.

The other one is Justin, a smartass (and I say that with all the imaginable sympathy) from Dublin (he’s actually German ‘tho) and 16 (I should stop mentioning the age of the  people I meet,  doesn’t really help make my intentions look more innocent hey?). Talking to him is pure joy ‘cause we think alike in so many ways and we share some not so common interests so I’m glad to have found someone I can drool over this & that with ;p
