School Days
So, 7ian asked about my time in the Waldorf school.
I hate to disappoint you but it was not really a Waldorf school, that name was just the easiest way to describe it xD It was a normal state school but with a few "extras". The teachers tried to find alternative ways to do classes. It’s a bit hard to describe that in short but the school, the teachers and the students were very open minded. I had a great time there (only two years sadly until we moved, it was my 5th and 6th grade so I was about 12/13 when I was there).
Classes were usually over at about 1 pm but we were hanging out in the school pretty much all day. You could do a good load of sports; I did street soccer, basketball, table tennis and table soccer (I was quite good at the latter! ^^,). We also had a school café (operated by the students) and various optional afternoon classes ranging from journalism to graffiti. But sometimes we just got to the next supermarket, bought a huge amount of sweets and sat down in the school garden and were just sunbathing and eating candy.
We were a class of 30 people (24 girls, 6 boys!) but as far as I can remember we didn’t split up into different crowds, something that I never experienced again after my time there.
We got pretty cocky after I while (like I mentioned before) because we felt like being more mature than the kids from other schools. We didn’t hang out only with classmates of the same gender, we didn’t laugh like little kids when someone brought up a topic like sexuality, we weren’t too ashamed to skinny dip together and so on.
I guess the wish to be different, to be something special was substantial for what we got into over time… we started to dress like Pippi Longstocking (well, some of the girls at least) and tried to fit into pretty much every cliché of hippies we could come up with. Childish? Sure. A bit embarrassing? Indeed. But it was still the best time of my life.

Thank you for that Josh. It sounds like a wonderful place to go to school. I’m really jealous of your time in this school. Mine was a bog standard comprehensive that didn’t fire my imagination. For this reason I didn’t attend school very often. Thanks Again Josh.
